Attaining work life balance

One of the first things I wanted to do when Matthew and I started EaaS was stop using my personal cell phone number for work. As I’m learning how to cut ties with work outside of business hours, the first action step was to create a main office number and direct phone numbers for our cells. I keep the app on during business hours and turn it off when I’m done working.

But what if a client needs to get in touch NOW? That’s what our 24/7 help desk subscription is for. And of course, the issue can be escalated to get in touch with us. Our mission is to give the best-in-class service to our clients.

There are lots of conversations about using a separate business phone. Why aren’t more companies doing this for their staff? We plan on having business cell phones for our employees to protect them and us. But truthfully, as someone who can’t always keep track of the phone I have, two is too much!

Our mobile app powered by https://www.intermedia.com/ has turned our cell phones into collaboration tools for business. We use them to:

·  See who on our team is available

·  Send and receive chats and SMS and MMS messages

·  Manage multiple calls at once

·  Use voicemail with transcription (one of my favorite tools)

·  And much more

I love this so much because I no longer feel the disruption of my work-life balance, I can distinguish between work-related and personal calls, my privacy is protected, and it’s just more professional.

As I’ve talked to colleagues and clients, they have expressed the same sentiment! We have become so accustomed to intertwining our personal and professional lives because we get a phone stipend, and our companies require that we share our personal numbers with clients. As employers, we should do better! There are so many other fabulous benefits we can offer our staff without expecting them to be on call day and night. I don’t see that as a benefit.

Let me know what you think. Are you still using your personal number for work? If so, let us help you make that change for you and your employees by providing cell phones and business numbers.
